I was born in Boulder, Colorado, where I grew up surrounded by a very athletic and healthy family.
Both of my parents came from a swimming and running background, which lead me to try many different sports such as gymnastics, karate, ballet, soccer, volleyball, basketball, track & field, cross country, ultimate frisbee, yoga, snowboarding, and swimming. I fell in love with sports that had the support of a team while letting me compete as an individual.
When college came along, I no longer had a structured fitness schedule and I quit exercising thinking it wouldn’t have an affect on me. HA! Fooled by the idea that being young and having a high metabolism was going to stop me from gaining weight, it wasn’t enough, and I slowly started to feel uncomfortable in my own skin.
Throughout college I managed to avoid the Freshman 15- I skipped right to the Senior 25, which remained for the following year after graduation. My confidence was at an all time low and I lacked the energy to get out and do the things I really loved like hiking and snowboarding. On top of it all I got a job sitting at a desk for the majority of my day making it even more difficult to lose the weight. I needed to find something new that I could be excited about, not just a mundane gym-going experience. That’s when I found CrossFit.
I started at a small gym in Colorado and fell madly in love with the challenge and community. Within 7 months I had lost 25 pounds and have been improving in all sorts of ways ever since. I’ve been doing CrossFit for almost 3 years now and I have a whole new outlook on exercise, food and healthy relationships. I met my husband at my old gym and have built so many amazing friendships through the sport.
I earned my CrossFit Level 1 Certification in April of 2015 and after completing a 50 hour coaching intensive internship, started coaching in Colorado in January 2016. In January 2017 I attained my ClinicalAthlete Weightlifting Coach Certification, and look forward to continuing my coaching education and perfecting my craft.
When I’m not coaching I work part-time at Lululemon, and run my own creative design business, Chester & Charli, named after my dogs, a German Short-Haired Pointer (Chester) and Goldendoodle (Charli).
